Welcome to Curious Creature

Curious Creature is an upgrade of my previous blog, hosted on JRoller. There’s still a lot to be done (to be hype, let’s consider this blog a beta) and you’ll probably see more things coming up during the next few weeks.

You can already check out my photos. I will try to set up the software pages as soon as possible. I’ll show my coolest Swing demos, among other things, on that page. Last but not least, I’ll try to create my own theme for this web site. The current one is okay but it’s not what I had in mind. Besides, its HTML code is a mess (do not try to XHTML-validate this site please ;-).

I hope you enjoy Curious Creature. Do not hesitate to post a comment to tell me about anything you would like to see here. Suggestions are most welcome!

Salut Romain! You know I’m a big fan of your stuff, and just wanted to say Hi and break in your new site :-)

Good luck with the template hacking…

  2. Nice move, Romain! Glad to see you’ve still got the archive and I like the theme. Hopefully this stays the great Swing and UI development resource that your blogs have been in the past!

  3. Finally you made it to your own WordPress powered weblog. Wise choice! I wish you all the best of luck and lots of fun with your new virtual home. :)

Note that this web site is actually hosted on http://www.progx.org a web site I have been working on with a friend of mine for years :)

  5. Hi Romain,

Congrats on the move and I hope you enjoy the new site. I did that same move (http://jroller.com/page/gursesl/cleanfulltext/time_to_move_on) myself a few weeks ago and I feel since that I have much better grip on my blog.

    PS: Nice design BTW.

    Hi Romain,
I am a curious creature and i’d like to know if you used a tool to import your jroller entries or you did this manually.

  7. Romain Guy says:

I found a JRoller template on somebody’s blog that generates an RSS feed containing all the entries. Then I just used the WordPress RSS importer.

Nice job, Gfx ;-). I like this design, light and clear. See you on developpez.com.

progx & jroller are blocked by the proxy at work. I’ll be able to read some of your “serious” stuff at least :)

Good work on the new site, I like the theme, orange is good :-)

    Hi Romain!

Apparently, there’s a problem with the feed: in Google Homepage, I get only the first three entries of 2006… is that happenning to someone else?

  13. GB says:

No sorry, I actually see some [flickr] entries of 2006 first (Eerie 12/28/06, Aix-les-Bains 12/6/06, Terrace 11/8/06, Hot Red 11/8/06, and Crawler 11/8/06); then I have the regular entries of the blog, the most recent first… any idea?

  14. Romain Guy says:

The feed contains both the latest blog entries and latest pictures.

  15. Francois says:

Nice Romain, I have updated my link to your site.
Just a litle think : your name appears nowhere on this new site, so we cannot be sure this is really the Romain’s site !

    Hi Romain,
Be the Leader and lead the UI Development using Java Swing and Java2D to great heights.

    >Your Legend in UI development using Java Swing.
    >when we except the book “Filthy Rich clients”
    >Cannot we develope some thing like Yahoo Widgets.

  17. Romain Guy says:

dhilshuk: My email is at the top of this page. The book should be ready (maybe) for JavaOne 2007. And you might see something like Yahoo Widgets very soon (not from me, watch java.net).

  18. Hi.. cool blog.. I was wondering if you would consider allowing me to add your blog feed to my news section on my webmaster website . I realise that not all of your posts are strictly webmaster related but ive written a script to only show posts containing certain keywords so theres no need to worry. Anyway, like i said.. cool blog.. some interesting stuff.. thanks
